nothing has had more import than that of the human expression; you can grant a man his freedom, but to suppress his freedom to express is the greatest form of oppression. Nothings more crude and closer to the truth than poetic expression save the blues.

If we leave no trail,
no songs will be sung;
the sun will set quietly.
The silence between—us
Birthplace of heaven
Resting between our moist palms.

Djembe summoned your name,
counted your movements;
your mother and I
It has been a while since I last posted an update; mostly because I've been traveling quite a bit lately, along with trying to finish my first book "Amandla", and of course preparing for my first born child to arrive in the coming moons. All has been well with me, I have been blessed beyond measure and deeper than any understanding; it has been a beautiful experience to watch my wife grow with joy and grace, to watch my daughter grow and develop as we anxiously await her arrival.
Lately, I have been developing in my writing; taking a penchant for short expressive poetry, it has allowed me to express in micro breaths a great deal of feelings and thought. I wanted to share with you one of my recent collection of expressions titled "...In Short Breaths" Enjoy!

the wind a supplication
for our enslaved ancestors
Danced with enriched souls
Beneath heaven's eye
Seeing not the monsters approach
